Every material has a grade. In this system grade means capacity: how much MP the material can hold. A material is empty until someone charges it.
| Grade | Capacity | Creature CR | DC for harvesting and gathering |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raw (unit) | 1 | – | 5 |
| Low | 10 | 0–2 | 10 |
| Medium | 100 | 3–6 | 15 |
| High | 1,000 | 7–11 | 20 |
| Supreme | 10,000 | 12–17 | 25 |
| Mythic | 50,000 | 18+ | 30 |
- Raw is ordinary everyday material – a lump of market iron, a handful of fibres – that holds 1 MP.
- Grades can’t be raised. Refining (smelting, tanning, sawing) changes a material’s form, not its grade. You find, harvest or buy the grade you need. See Materials and Refining.
- Creatures: a creature’s grade follows its CR. Parts from creatures are at or below the creature’s grade. See Grade of parts.
- Nord’s grades: Nord uses Low–Supreme. Nord’s Poor equals Raw. Mythic is new and used for CR 18+ and world power sites.
Why capacity?
It solves two problems at once:
- Nord’s ingredient prices don’t match 2024. Now it is the charging that costs, not the herb itself.
- Rare materials are still worth hunting, because only they can hold the MP a powerful item needs.
